Description | Day 1: Participants will learn about establishing school-wide academic interaction norms and practices that are aligned with the ELD Standards and practical ways they can expand students’ command of advanced vocabulary and sentence structure through mindful, precise language modeling and consistent use of appropriate academic register. Day 2: Participants will learn about the shifts in emphasis with academic speaking and writing instruction and assessment initiated by the Common Core Standards and the new ELA/ELD Framework. Dr. Kinsella will demonstrate practical, classroom-tested instructional routines to integrate relatively brief but potent doses of academic speaking and writing support. See flyer for details. |
