The California English Learner (EL) Roadmap: Strengthening Comprehensive Eductsaional Policies, Programs, and Practices for English learners (CA EL Roadmap) was unanimously approved by the State Board of Education (SBE) on July 12, 2017. This guidance document supports schools and districts as they incorporate promising EL educational practices into their local program designs. The CA EL Roadmap elaborates on the SBE policy, provides research-and evidence-based examples from the field that illustrate the principles in action. The crosswalk to the Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) helps to bring ELs to the forefront as districts consider the state priorities and work with their communities to plan and implement their LCAPs.
