Summary

The purpose of the District Assistance Survey (DAS) is to help a district analyze its capacity to support a coherent instructional program at all schools and for all students. It is intended to guide a team’s conversation about district systems of support, district and school improvement, and accelerated student academic achievement. The survey focuses on reading/language arts and mathematics and is designed to reveal how a district supports schools in seven categories that impact student achievement:

  • Standards-based curriculum, instruction, and assessment
  • Professional development
  • Human resources
  • Data systems, data analysis, ongoing monitoring
  • Parent and community involvement
  • Fiscal operations
  • Governance and leadership
