Resource Title Trends in International Math and Science Study (TIMSS)
Summary

This website provides access to the findings and analysis of the 2015 TIMMS.The 2015 report is the sixth such study since TIMSS was first conducted in 1995. TIMMS is administered internationally every four years to students in fourth and eighth grades. TIMSS is used to compare over time the mathematics and science knowledge and skills of students and is designed to align broadly with mathematics and science curricula in the participating countries. The results suggest the degree to which students have learned mathematics and science concepts and skills likely to have been taught in school. Numerous reports are available, including one that describes the performance of U.S. students relative to students in other countries and on changes in mathematics and science achievement. Information is also available about the achievement within the United States such as trends in the achievement of students by gender, race/ethnicity, and enrollment in schools with different levels of poverty. The website also provides access to previous results back to 1999,questions used in past assessments, questionnaires for students and teachers, a list of participating countries, publications, reports, and answers to frequently asked questions.
