What is the purpose of the website?

This website was developed to provide technical support and resources for county offices of education, districts and schools as they address student achievement challenges. Here you'll find a variety of print, video and Web link resources, including research, best practices, tools and templates. The Events and Services section includes descriptions of services provided by Region 3 county offices, such as professional development, support for planning and budgeting processes, and strategies to build effective instructional leaders. New resources are added continuously, so check back often.

What are the technical requirements for using this site?

To watch the videos, you will need to have a computer with a sound card, video card and speakers. You will need a broadband Internet connection of 384 Kbps or faster, which is the equivalent of a slow DSL connection or faster. Flash 9 is also required. If an outdated version of Flash is detected, a download link will appear. After clicking the link, the download/installation process should only take a few moments. To view the printable versions of the Quick Start presentations, you'll need Microsoft Word installed.

Why does the resource section include eight areas?

These resource areas are based on the seven District Assistance and Intervention Team (DAIT) components and include the additional area of Culture and Collaborative Relationships. These components provide districts with a framework for coordinated, integrated improvement and technical support services that directly impact student achievement.

What types of resources are available?

Resources include print, video, and links to relevant websites. Planning tools, templates, current research, exemplars of best practice and tips for “how to do it” are also provided.

How do I begin my search?

This website includes a powerful, user-friendly search tool. You can search specific parts of the site or narrow your focus by selecting from a specific resource area. You can also search by keyword. Keep in mind that the more items you select, the fewer results you will get. Search results display print, web, and video resources in three categories: research findings, best practices and how to do it.

How can I locate specific support services?

Region 3 county office partners provide a variety of unique services that collectively fall into three categories: facilitating planning, building leadership, and supporting curriculum, instruction and improvement. What are Quick Starts?

Quick Starts frame the critical issues in each of the eight resource areas. Each Quick Start provides talking points and strategies to consider in providing support services in that area. Information is presented as brief narrated slide shows. The text is also available as a Word document and may be used to create presentations or facilitate conversations at the district level.
